GREEN BAY — A new ad released by Senator Robert Cowles’ campaign claims he cuts spending when in fact the most recent budget increased by $1.1 billion.
Senator Cowles claims “The big spenders in Madison have been attacking me,” but the truth is, Senator Cowles is one of those big spenders. Senator Cowles voted for this year’s biennium budget which increased spending by over $1 billion as reported by the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau. “While Senator Cowles continues to complain about the actions of Madison politicians, he fails to acknowledge he’s one of those politicians. After 29 years in Madison, Senator Cowles is clearly blind to reality: you can’t have it both ways. Cowles complains about big spending, but the budget he touts increases spending by $1 billion while also making drastic cuts to core Wisconsin values: education, healthcare and support for Seniors.” Nancy Nusbaum grew up in Green Bay, graduated from Green Bay West High School and University of Wisconsin-Madison. As Mayor of DePere, Nancy helped create over 1,800 new jobs and cut city taxes 29 percent. As Brown County Executive, she cut tax rates and spearheaded the building of the Resch Center, the Convention Center and the Fox River Trail. Nancy knows how to cut taxes and balance budgets without breaking the backs of middle class families. Nancy and her husband John, a Silver Star recipient from his service in Vietnam, live in DePere. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
